Exel Fil facility expansion

We at Exel Fil are in luck: we have just received the Lleida SME Award 2025, a recognition that values our commitment to sustainability, innovative work model and our role as a company that generates employment and wealth in the region.

This award reinforces our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda—from health and well-being to innovation and decent work—and drives us to turn that vision into tangible facts.

So much so that we have recently completed the construction and conditioning of the new production warehouse in Cervera, a space designed to maximize energy efficiency, ensure the safety and well-being of our team, and continue to lead with innovation and environmental responsibility.

New Exel Fil production warehouse in Cervera

At Exel Fil we have completed our new warehouse in Cervera, a project that marks a before and after in the way Exel Fil works. An ambitious architectural and interior design project, with the aim of providing the Exel Fil team with a modern and welcoming workplace.

Designed to be a safe, modern and environmentally friendly space, the new wire drawing warehouse incorporates:

Energy efficiency:

– 879 solar panels that, together with the 1019 of the original plant, cover a large part of our electrical consumption.

– Glazed facades, double-glazed windows, and thermal break to maximize natural light and minimize heat/cold loss.

– Centralized, high-efficiency heating and cooling system.

Responsible resource management:

75% water saving in the wire drawing process thanks to a water recirculation and treatment system.

– Integrated recycling area and parking with charging points for electric vehicles.

Well-being, occupational hazards and team safety:

Two-story design that houses an office-dining room, changing rooms, training room, and administration, commercial, and logistics areas.

Ergonomic and air-conditioned facilities, with natural lighting and optimized ventilation.

– Compliance with all occupational risk prevention regulations, with adapted spaces to guarantee the health and comfort of our team.

This investment demonstrates that innovation, sustainability and quality of working life can go hand in hand, reinforcing our position as a benchmark in steel wire drawing, directing all our efforts to the Exel Fil 2024-2026 Strategic Plan and maintaining our commitment to the SDGs.

Exel Fil Strategic Plan 2024–2026: growth and talent

To consolidate our leadership position, Exel Fil’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan establishes:

Staff growth: +30% of the team, exceeding 75, with the incorporation of technical profiles and specialized operators.

Production capacity: +100,000 tons of steel per year thanks to the expansion of wire drawing lines and optimization of processes, which already reflect a 40% increase in the production of bright and annealed steel compared to 2022

International expansion: entry into 14 new countries, supported by strategic alliances and optimized logistics.

Continuous training: use of our innovative room to deliver professional development programs and ensure operational excellence.

– Equal opportunities: implementation of an Equality Plan that guarantees processes of

equitable promotion and selection.

This plan reinforces our commitment to grow with strength, incorporating talent and technology to always offer the best quality.

Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals

But none of the actions described above would make sense without integrating a solid sustainability approach. Below, we show how each of our initiatives aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN, ensuring that growth and environmental responsibility always go hand in hand.

At Exel Fil, we work with the idea of aligning our strategy precisely with these objectives, trying to transform each goal into concrete actions within our activity. Of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined, we focus on the following:

SDG 3: Health and Well-being

We develop prevention programs and promote healthy habits among our team, with specific training and spaces designed for rest and ergonomics.

SDG 5: Gender equality

We are moving forward in the implementation of an Equality Plan, ensuring selection and promotion processes free of biases and promoting reconciliation.

SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation

Through periodic audits and certified management systems, we guarantee the responsible use of water in all our processes, with indicators that allow us to monitor consumption and detect opportunities for improvement.

SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy

We complete ISO 50001 certification in energy management and offer continuous training to optimize the use of resources in each work shift.

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

With our 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, we foresee a 30% increase in staff, betting on stable contracts, safety in the workplace, social protection for families, as well as the best prospects for personal development and social integration.

SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

We maintain a constant investment in R to integrate advanced wire drawing machinery and develop new processes that improve the traceability and quality of the product.

SDG 12: Responsible production and consumption

Aligned with the ISO 14001 standard, we manage 98% of recycled materials and operate under a circular economy approach, minimizing waste and prolonging the useful life of our products.

Thus, with these initiatives, Exel Fil demonstrates that sustainability and growth can go hand in hand, contributing to the well-being of our team, the community and the planet.

Exel Fil Wire Drawing: a future driven by excellence

With the expansion of our facilities, the SME award from Lleida and a solid Strategic Plan for the future, Exel Fil is positioned as a benchmark in quality steel wire drawing, and demonstrates that sustainability and growth can go hand in hand.
